Issue 21 - 2011

(WatchBlog McGee is a fictionalized blogger but reports on actual, flesh and bone, real-life fantasy football leagues.  This year, he is embedded deep in the CFFFL, and will be periodically blogging on league matters.)

WatchBlog here again. 2 games are in the books, 3 others are still up in the air.  Let’s get to it.

Oh yes they call him the streak

The 47ers came into week 11 on a 3 game losing streak, while the Badger came in on a 3 game winning streak.  The whole CFFFL was all a flutter wondering if the Badger would streak into the playoffs, and the 47ers would crater into the consolation round.  But then the Badger did what a Badger does best, and in true “Honey Badger don’t care” style, once again fielded an incomplete lineup.  The 47ers didn’t need Badger indifference however, and finally outplayed their opponent for the first time in a month.  The 47ers now move into one spot behind either the Leftovers or Cousins, with 2 games left, and control their own playoff destiny.  Jerry “If I got 2 points for an onside kick, I could have lost by 2 less points” Cook must play the Hottez and Cousins in the next 2 weeks, 2 teams also fighting to play for the hallowed CFFFL Championship trophy... uh, cup... uh, certificate?

Offensive coaching

Some in the league were questioning WatchBlog’s coach rankings, specifically why Easily Offensive’s coach was ranked so high.  Even WatchBlog is questioning that today, as the Offensives put up 127 points in week 11, unfortunately, none of them counted since they were sitting on the Offensive Bench.  As a result, the 76 points that did count were not nearly enough to beat the newest hot team in the CFFFL, the PlowBoys.  Norman “My Team Win and Lose, but mostly win from here on out” Cook’s team has now scored over 100 points 2 weeks and a row, and will next week take on a division leading Puppies, who haven’t scored over 100 points since week 9.

Comeback Monday

Of the 3 CFFFL games remaining, WatchBlog doesn’t think any of the leaders should celebrate too soon going into the Monday night game.  While the Puppies are the least likely to make a full comeback, they do have QB Tom Brady and WR Dwayne Bowe playing for them, and each are going up against bad defenses.  As for the Cousins and Lions, neither has a lead that is likely to hold up given the remaining players for the other team, but as we’ve seen in the CFFFL, nothing is a sure thing.

WatchBlog out.
