WatchBlog here again.  All of the games for week 4 are in the book.  Let’s get to it.

Mission Accomplished?

When Hottez wit da bodiez utilized a monster Miles Austin game to propel them to a huge upset win in week 2, it appears that one win was their lone goal for the season, and they have shut down football operations.  It has now been 2 consecutive weeks in which Lauren “how can I mess with the integrity of the league when I don’t even participate?” Cook has fielded an incomplete team.  In fact, she had 2 players on her active roster in week 4 that did not play, which is one more than last week.  L Cook’s inattentiveness, of course, helped Cousin Mose & Me secure an easy victory.  Said Gary “starting a family fantasy football league was perhaps my best move ever” Cook when asked if his two children fielding pathetic teams made him ashamed to be related to them - “No comment.”

Honey Badger Hunted

Speaking of pathetic teams managed by one of G Cook’s children, Honey Badger also played this weekend, and of course, lost.  Honey Badger is now the lone winless team in the CFFFL, and will likely remain so going into the first week of BYEs.  Looking at week 5, odds are that Honey Badger will be ignoring the fact that two of his bench players, WR Jordy Nelson and RB Fred Jackson are way out performing his starters.  Add the fact that one of his starting WRs is on a BYE this week, and we will all soon know if Andy “between band practice and my Nintendo, I really don’t have the time to be a fantasy football nerd” Cook has logged on to Yahoo! sports since draft day.  The same might be true of the Quail Hunters’ manager, but with or without her input, Amanda “I might just win this thing without trying” Cook’s team is swimming along with an impressive 3-1 record, and looks to improve next week when facing the spiraling Easily Offensive team in week 5.  When asked if she thinks her team will make it to 4-1, A Cook reportedly replied: “Easily....”

That Voodoo you do

Desperate for their first win of the season, the PlowBoys chief pulled out his bag of inspirational quotes, and delivered a compelling half time speech to his team.  It was short, sweet, and utterly confusing, but he simply told his team: “My team Lose or lose Badly My Team Win and Lose.”  Whatever the heck that meant, it was just what the PlowBoys needed to hear, and the inspiration launched them to a 2 point victory over Easily Offensive.  Easily Offensive has lost 3 games in a row, and even a change in starting QBs could not stop their slide.  David “I don’t wanna talk about it” Cook seems to single handedly be keeping the league bottom feeders from going winless for the season.  Honey Badger, as long as Easily Offensive is in the league there’s still hope for you!

Issue 7 - 2011

(WatchBlog McGee is a fictionalized blogger but reports on actual, flesh and bone, real-life fantasy football leagues.  This year, he is embedded deep in the CFFFL, and will be periodically blogging on league matters.)

WatchBlog here again.  Two games have finished early this weekend in the CFFFL, and both matchups had a little extra oomph to them.  Let’s get to it.

The most highly anticipated matchup of the season thus far between the last 2 remaining undefeated CFFFL teams finally kicked off at noon today, and seemed to end shortly thereafter.  The Lions appeared to be no match for The Cute Little Puppies, managed by Stacy “Dialysis makes you football smart” Cook, who put out their lowest offensive numbers of the season, but still managed to treat The Lions like a chew toy and win by over 20 points.  Matt “If Drew Brees doesn’t get me 30, I don’t have a shot” Johnson’s team finally ran out of mojo and was not able to keep their improbable win streak alive.  His Lions will go hungry this week, but perhaps they can dine on Cousin flesh next week...

The second early game of the weekend involved two managers who have been extremely familiar with one another for years, dating all the way back to the decade of man perms and parachute pants.  Although, going into this weekend, the combined winning percentage of the two teams was only .500, both teams played as if something much larger was on the line, such as who would have to clean the toilets this week.  While it was no surprise that Cindy “I’m kinda into rainbow hair” Cook’s Leftovers put up another impressive point total in week 4, it was very surprising that her opponent, Jerry “I finally broke 100 points, thanks March Sanchez!” Cook kept pace all the way to the bitter end.  Unfortunately for J Cook, achieving what will likely be the second best point total in the league for week 4 only produced yet another loss.

There are several compelling story lines in the remaining games which will finish up tomorrow.  The most compelling of course involves the potential first win of the season for the PlowBoys who lead their game going into tomorrow by less than a quarter of a point.  I, for one, wouldn’t want to be around the Easily Offensive executive offices tomorrow night if that lead holds up...
