(WatchBlog McGee is a fictionalized blogger but reports on actual, flesh and bone, real-life fantasy football leagues.  This year, he is embedded deep in the CFFFL, and will be periodically blogging on league matters.)

WatchBlog here again.  Just as WatchBlog foretold last issue, the playoff race has tightened up considerably after week 10 games.  Let’s get to it.

The Good.

The 3 highest scoring teams in the CFFFL were able to win again in week 10, and with the wins, 2 have already clinched playoff spots.  The 3rd, the Leftovers, haven’t clinched yet, and did not play like a playoff team in week 10, but thankfully for them, they were playing The Lions.  While Cindy “I need the computer, Amy!” Cook’s team is no longer the highest scoring team in the league, they are still capable of an offensive explosion most weeks.  As for the newest team to top the CFFFL in scoring, the Hunters won in convincing fashion over the 47ers, and continue to share the best record in the league with Stacy “I’m offended by stats that don’t say what I want them to” Cook’s Puppies, who also won their week 10 game.  These two teams meet in the last week of the regular season, and that game could very well be for the top CFFFL playoff seed.

The Bad.

Also in week 10, 2 CFFFL teams had their losing streaks continued, while 2 others had their winning streaks snapped.  The Lions, who last week put up 55 points with 3 active players on a BYE, and this week had no active players on a BYE, yet still only put up 55 points, lost again.  Matthew “I don’t need no stinkin’ running backs” has now lost 3 games in a row, and in so doing, kept pace in suckiness with the 47ers, also on a 3 game losing streak.  Jerry “No Amy, I need the computer!” Cook had made the bold prediction that his team would be scoring a lot of points in week 10, but instead put out the lowest point output for the 47ers this season.  The Cousins and the Offensives had their 2 game win streaks ended with week 10 losses.  The Cousins were geared up for the Domestic Violence Bowl II, but didn’t put up much of a fight, probably in order to avoid the couch.  Gary “Help me Aaron Rogers, you’re my only hope...” Cook’s team has fallen into a tie with the Leftovers at 6-4, and sits as the 4th seed overall.  As for the Offensives, they took another hit on the chin from a low ranking team when they lost to the Badger.  The Offensives are 1-4 against teams under .500, but 3-2 against teams over .500.  Doesn’t bode well that they have the PlowBoys and Lions as their next two opponents...

The Ugly.

Believe it or not, the Badger is the hottest team in the CFFFL, and has won 3 games in a row.  At 3-7 and only 1 game out of the last playoff spot, we might actually have a Badger spotting in the CFFFL playoffs.  Only 2 teams have clinched so far, and the other 8 will still have to play well in order to make it in.  The PlowBoys and the Badger had been considered nothing but spoilers for the rest of the league, but as of now, they are legitimate playoff contenders.  What muddies the waters even more is the fact that injuries have hit some of the top teams when they can least afford it.  The Hunters have lost QB Matt Schaub to injury, possibly for the season, and that injury also hurts the Cousins who won’t have Schaub throwing to WR Andre Johnson who they will get back in week 12 from injury.  The Leftovers also had an injury blow at RB when Frank Gore left week 10 with an injury, and QB Michael Vick is also said to be dealing with a new injury.  The middle ground in the CFFFL looks to get really crowded in the next couple of weeks, and as always, WatchBlog will be right in the middle of, well, the middle.
