Issue 22 - 2011

(WatchBlog McGee is a fictionalized blogger but reports on actual, flesh and bone, real-life fantasy football leagues.  This year, he is embedded deep in the CFFFL, and will be periodically blogging on league matters.)

WatchBlog here again. Week 11 is complete. One new team has clinched a playoff spot, the 3 remaining spots are still in doubt.  Let’s get to it.

Up and Down

The Lions losing streak extended to 4 straight, which was inevitable at kickoff since Matthew “I’m too busy jamming to Paco Estrada to make a lineup change” Johnson left QB Andy Dalton and K Nick Folk on the bench even though his first stringers were both on BYEs.  This white flag toss by Johnson enabled Amanda “I’m winning games with Joe Flacco as QB, I must be good” Cook and her Quail Hunters to win their 2nd in a row, and rise to the best record and top playoff seed in the CFFFL.  Not only are the Hunters 1st in their division, and 1st in record, and 1st in points, and 1st in the CFFFL playoff seeding, they are 1st in WatchBlog’s Power Ranking with a perfect score of 30.  If there was any doubt before, there is none now that the Hunters are the team to beat.

All Hail the Chief

The Commish officially got his team into the playoffs in week 11 when he held off the Leftovers on Monday night.  The win for Gary “If I didn’t make the playoffs, I’d have shut the whole league down” Cook’s Cousins also means they are still in the race for the division lead with the Quail Hunters, who have 2 of the highest scoring teams left on their schedule.  It won’t be easy as the Cousins would have to make up 2 games, and outscore the Hunters by 160 points in the last 2 weeks to win the division, so, WatchBlog isn’t holding his breath.  Cindy “Sure, we should all be working, but what fun is that?” Cook’s Leftovers could not pull off the Monday night come from behind win, and are still vulnerable to getting knocked out of the playoffs, but then again, they are also in position to win their division if they can catch the Puppies and not give up a 47 point lead in overall points to them. They will have a tough matchup next week as they play the top ranked Hunters in week 12's game of the week.

Smokin’ Hottez

Beware playas, a CFFFL team of Hottez is smokin’ you any time they get a chance.  WatchBlog can only assume this means they are winning CFFFL games, and at 5-6, the Hottez have now won their way into the final CFFFL playoff spot.  The smokin’ might become more difficult for the Hottez after number 1 RB Adrian Peterson was lost to an ankle injury early on Sunday.  The most recent playas to get smoked played for Stacy “I’m not Amish, especially if Amish means having RB’s who aren’t injured” Cook’s Puppies.  In what looks to be a display of Pilgrim generosity, the Puppies opted to not substitute WR Mike Williams for the injured RB LaDainian Tomlinson, and played with only 7 playas in week 11.  No idea if the Hottez shared some maize in return for the generosity, but the end result was a 3rd loss for the Puppies in their last 5 games.

WatchBlog out.
