Issue 19 - 2011

(WatchBlog McGee is a fictionalized blogger but reports on actual, flesh and bone, real-life fantasy football leagues.  This year, he is embedded deep in the CFFFL, and will be periodically blogging on league matters.)

WatchBlog here again.  Only one game in the books, but several still in doubt.  Let’s get to it.

My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys

Well it took 10 weeks, but the PlowBoys finally cracked 100 in a game, and in so doing, improved their record to 3-7.  As great as a 3rd victory for Norman “I have 3 Ks on my team, but please don’t read anything into that” Cook was, it was extra special because of the contributions from his 3 Dallas Cowboy starters who totaled 71.2 points all by themselves.  With the win, the PlowBoys still have an outside shot at the playoffs, and, with the rise of talent on their roster, should be a difficult opponent for the rest of the season.  The Lions are now the only CFFFL team to have never broken 100 points in a game, and it appears they will remain that way for the foreseeable future.  As for the Hottez, the inconsistency of the manager’s “give a darn” has hurt them again, as the injured WR Miles Austin again started in the team’s losing effort, while the fantasy football stud RB Adrian Peterson has remained on the bench despite no longer being on a BYE.  Perhaps Peterson’s bodiez is no longer hottez enough, but more likely, someone was too busy visiting with prospective renters this week to log in 5 minutes of computer time.

What Can Brown Do for You?

Not to rain on the PlowBoys victory parade, but WatchBlog can’t help but comment on their odd roster move this week when they cut relatively productive RB Cedric Benson, in order to claim K Kris Brown, who is listed as a Dallas Cowboy, but isn’t actually an active player on any team.  WatchBlog can only assume this was an oversight of some kind, but perhaps the PlowBoys know something the rest of the league doesn’t.

Playoff Parity

We will have to wait until all games are final tomorrow, but it is quite possible that we will have 6 teams fighting it out for the last two playoff spots with 3 games to go.  If the Badger comes back against the Offensives, there will likely be 4 teams at 4-6 and 2 teams at 3-7.  If this logjam occurs, then any of the bottom 6 teams will have a realistic shot at the post season.  Buckle up - this last few weeks could be a bumpy ride!

WatchBlog out.
