Issue 10 - 2011

(WatchBlog McGee is a fictionalized blogger but reports on actual, flesh and bone, real-life fantasy football leagues.  This year, he is embedded deep in the CFFFL, and will be periodically blogging on league matters.)

WatchBlog here again. Quite an exciting finish in the CFFFL tonight.  A couple of come from behind wins and almost a 3rd.  Let’s get to it.

The Comeback Kids

Two teams came from behind in dramatic fashion to pull out a late win.  Quail Hunters hunted down Easily Offensive thanks to strong performances by Calvin Johnson and Matt Forte.  Amanda “I make my own roster moves, so eat it” Cook out maneuvered David “I’m just gonna focus on my other fantasy team now” Cook for the exciting win and the new lead in the 5 Cooks division.  Another exciting late win kept Cute Little Puppies as the lone undefeated team in the CFFFL.  Cindy “Pierre Garcon?  Really?  Where did that come from?” Cook’s Leftovers were leapt over for their second loss of the season, but while dropping to the 4th ranked team in the CFFFL, they will still remain second within their division.  Said Stacy “I’d save a puppy’s life over Michael Vick’s any day” Cook excitedly stated after the game: “...the Vick led Leftovers they beating they so richly....”  Well said S Cook, well said.

Ho Hum...

Two other games this weekend offered little excitement Monday night, as no real challenge to the games’ leaders ever materialized.  Cousin Mose & Me had another mediocre scoring performance, but was still able to win easily over the quickly falling Lions.  The lack of points will cost the Cousins though, as a new tie with Quail Hunters in the division will give the division lead to the higher scoring Hunters.  Gary “It’s easy to make roster decisions when half your team is on a BYE” Cook added a little interest to the game by taunting Matt “How have I won 3 games with no decent running backs” Johnson for his failed attempt at a 3 WR attack.  The Lions’ chief did not dignify the comment with a reply.  The other game that was never really in doubt on Monday matched the Honey Badger up against the 47ers.  WatchBlog doesn’t have the energy to rip the Badger anymore this week.  I’ll just say, as everyone expected, they lost.  The improving 47ers got a much needed first division win, and are still clinging to the last CFFFL playoff spot.  Jerry “I like to smack talk games I’m not even playing in” Cook has gotten a little cocky with his newfound success, and proclaimed he would outscore both of the highest scoring CFFFL teams had he played them in week 5.  He was wrong.

Too close to call

In the most exciting finish of the CFFFL season, the PlowBoys came up a fraction of a point short of catching the Hottez wit da bodiez in the last seconds on Monday night.  1 more yard into the end zone prior to the clock expiring, and the PlowBoys would have captured their second win.  As it stands, unless league stats are corrected for players participating in the contest in the PlowBoys favor, Hottez will have prevailed by the thinnest of margins, and won their second game of the year.  The win will put Lauren “Look what happens with a little effort” Cook just one spot out of the playoff picture after 5 weeks of play.  Norman “Joseph Addai’s pulled hamstring may hurt him, but look what it did to me!” Cook’s team falls to 1-4 for the season, and will remain last in the 5 Cooks division, but overall, still ahead of the Badger.

WatchBlog out.
