Issue 9 - 2011

(WatchBlog McGee is a fictionalized blogger but reports on actual, flesh and bone, real-life fantasy football leagues.  This year, he is embedded deep in the CFFFL, and will be periodically blogging on league matters.)

WatchBlog here again.  Well, the entire CFFFL schedule this week has at least one team with players still playing on Monday night, but there are still several games in progress worthy of comment.  Let’s get to it.

The much maligned Honey Badger is continuing to thumb a wet nose at all critics by refusing to make a single roster move in 5 weeks time.  Even an appearance by a confusing, yet menacing Chronos, could not compel the league’s youngest CFFFL manager to make a handful of computer key strokes before noon on Sunday.  The indifference not only resulted in an empty roster spot at the Badger’s WR position, but the Badger’s 2 bench RBs put up over 50 points, which if substituted for his starting RBs would have insured a first CFFFL victory for Andy “Did anyone seriously think I was gonna put any more thought into this beyond my team name?” Cook.

The highest scoring game of the weekend thus far has been (no surprise) between the two highest scoring teams in the CFFFL, Cute Little Puppies and Leftovers.  Thanks to a mediocre day by Cute Little Tom Brady, the Puppies are in danger of losing their first game of the season.  The rest of the league will be watching closely to see if Stacy “I didn’t realize QBs were allowed to score less than 20 points” Cook can pull out a late game victory tomorrow night.  Interestingly, (at least to fantasy fb nerds) the Leftovers will not vault the Cute Little Puppies into the 4 Cooks and a Johnson division lead, even with a win, unless they beat the Puppies by 23.59 points or more, which appears unlikely. When asked if she was aware of the points she need to win by, Cindy “Do I look like a fantasy fb nerd to you?” Cook allegedly said: “No seriously, do I look like a fantasy fb nerd to you?”

The two lowest scoring CFFFL teams also met this weekend, and the game is still too close to call.  Hottez wit da bodiez made some very needed roster moves prior to the game, and has a decent lead going into tomorrow night.  However, the PlowBoys, who have finally gotten a taste of victory, are poised to make a late Monday night charge for their second win of the season.  Given his heavy Dallas Cowboy influenced team, Norman “is Roger Staubach eligible to draft?” Cook will have pulled off a minor miracle if he is able to win a game on a Cowboy BYE week.
