Week 4 - Late Edition

WatchBlog here.  3 exciting games that came down to the wire.  Let's get to it.

The Battle for Dominance

The Cow Pokes came into week 4 with a 2-1 record and a chance to simultaneously: 1. hand the Sugar Gliders their first loss of the season, and; 2. propel themselves into a tie for first place in the 5CD.  Despite some bad starting decisions on Sunday, on Monday night, they were still within striking distance, needing only 17 points from WR Miles Austin for the win, and a claim on 1st place.  Then the Cowboy game happened.  11 points was all Austin got, and Norman "I will never again bench a QB playing New Orleans" Cook's team lost by 6 on a week he should have won by over 30.  The Sugar Gliders benefited from poor coaching on the other sideline, but also did a masterful job of squeezing every possible point out of a seriously depleted team.  Ok, actually it's not that masterful when you have 7 players either on a BYE or out with injury, since your choices are very limited, but kudos to Shoshana "I didn't bench Tom Brady for Josh Freeman, that should count for something, right?" Cook for pulling out the win despite some serious roster adversity.  This week, expect the Gliders to make their first mid-season acquisition of the year to replace injured K Nate Kaeding - hopefully with another kicker...

The Battle for Indifference

The Honey Badger and Quail Hunters came into week 4 tied for the lead in most starts of inactive players.  Both had twice found something better to do than to spend the 5 minutes required each week to make sure all of their players are actually, well, you know, playing.  The question on everyone's mind was, which team will be the most indifferent when they face each other?  And also, do either of them know they are even playing a game this week?  Indifferent managers or not, what we got was the most exciting finish of the CFFFL season.  Needing 15 points to win and only having a Def left to play on Monday night, the Badger looked destined to surrender it's winning record, and slide into the position he had come to call home - mediocrity.  Then the Cowboy game happened.  Tony "I love Badgers" Romo threw 5 picks, including 2 for defensive touchdowns, and 24 points later, Honey Badger emerged as a come from behind victor and, get ready for it, tied for 1st in the 3CBCD, and ranked 3rd overall in the CFFFL.  Andrew "Do we have more pizza?" Cook impressed in week 4, and toppled the current CFFFL champs, leaving Amanda "Your slogan is 'We don't care'?  We don't even have a slogan, how's that for not caring?" to slide to 1-3 on the season, and last place in the 5CD.  At least you had Padre...

The Battle for Insignificance

Speaking of last place, Easily Offensive played again this week, and lost.  In other news, the sky is blue, people die, and everyone has to pay taxes.  Well, the sky is blue and people die, let's just leave it at that.  This week, the lucky team to get a win over the Offensives was The Gamers.  Durlon "Jay Cutler's starting to look pretty good about now" Bryant's team had a comfortable 20 point lead going into Monday night, and still had his QB and kicker left to help protect the lead.  Then the Cowboy game happened.  Tony "I threw for 3 TDs if you count the ones to the defense" Romo had his 2nd bad game in a row, and The Gamers' kicker only mustered 4 points to help the cause.  The 20 point lead had only grown to 32 points, and with the Offensives having 3 players left, their first win of the season was within reach.  Well, it would have been, had David "ask me about my other league, seriously, please just ask about that, I'm begging you" Cook not benched WR Brandon Marshall...  or TE Jason Witten... or WR Danny Amendola... or had he just let a 7 year old set his roster for him.  Well, as the say: "Cowboy happens"
