WatchBlog here again. 3 games are final, and really the only 3 that count.  Let’s get to it.

Battle of the Titans?

What was supposed to be a slugfest between the two best teams in the CFFFL for the regular season crown did not live up to the billing.  While the Puppies and Stacy “Ok, suddenly this is fun again” Cook showed up for the fight with a respectable 103 point effort, the Hunters and Amanda “4 points?!  And you call yourself a QB?” were not up to the challenge and could only muster a 73 point output.  Luckily for the Hunters, they will live to fight another day, and that day won’t come for 2 weeks as they now have clinched the #2 CFFFL playoff seed, and a 1st round playoff BYE.  The Puppies earned a #1 seed with the win, and will face off in the second round against the lowest remaining seed to advance out of round 1.

Long Shot Lions

The odds-defying Lions tried to keep baffling the odds makers in week 13 by winning yet again in their final game of the regular season. They had no choice but to win if they were to see the playoffs, as only a win by them, and a loss by the 47ers would punch their ticket to the CFFFL playoffs.  Matthew “Just thing
k how good I could have been with just one good RB” Johnson’s effort was not enough to get them into the playoffs, but they finished the season at 6-7, approximately 6 more wins than anyone expected.  Going into the season as a 75-1 underdog, the Lions could only consider their near playoff miss as a huge success.  Their opponent, the PlowBoys, also failed to qualify for the CFFFL playoffs, but still put up an impressive late season charge that was powered by some shrewd Cowboy additions midseason.  Of course, when you live by the Cowboy, you sometimes die by the Cowboy, and in the end, this is what did in the PlowBoys playoff hopes.  All in all, 4 tough wins for Norman “Anyone still crying about McGahee, now?” Cook were impressive given a somewhat shaky draft class.  Just as N. Cook said, almost prophetically, weeks ago: “My team Lose or lose Badly-/-My Team barely Win and Lose.”  Once again, well said.

Rise of the Perm

Beware CFFFL playoff teams, the dark horse has just entered the race.  The 47ers, who had to play almost the entire season with an undrafted QB, still managed to come within 22 points of equaling the season point total of the #2 seed Quail Hunters.  Unfortunately for the 47ers, those points did not translate into more than 6 wins.  Fortunately for the 47ers, 1 of those 6 wins earned them a split with the Lions, and gave them the tiebreaker into the playoffs thanks to a dominating season point total.  Jerry “was I really trying to replace Cam Newton at QB?” Cook scored an impressive 129 points to clinch the 6th seed, and will be a tough matchup for whatever team he sees in the first round.  Gary “I’m 0-3 against my brothers, and that in no way reinforces my middle child complex” Cook is stumbling a bit going into the playoffs, as they have lost their last 2 games, and will have likely surrendered the 3rd seed to the Leftovers because of the loss.  This might not be such a bad thing however, as their 1st round would then be against the Hottez, a much less imposing playoff opponent.   Lot’s of intrigue heading into the playoffs, and only one game tonight that could change anything (and by “could” I mean “never will in a million years.”)
