(WatchBlog McGee is a fictionalized blogger but reports on actual, flesh and bone, real-life fantasy football leagues. For the second year in a row, he is embedded deep in the CFFFL, and will be periodically blogging on league matters.)
WatchBlog here again. Well it’s been 8 months since you’ve heard from me, but I’m back. Can’t say the same for some league managers. Now let’s get to some pre-draft coverage.
Manager Strike?
After a quiet off-season, getting the CFFFL back up and running for a second season looks to be a bit challenging for 2nd year commissioner Gary “I didn’t win last year, and suddenly I’m losing interest” Cook. Out of the 10 original CFFFL teams, only 5 have returned to the league, with the remaining half seemingly holding out in an attempt to re-negotiate the revenue sharing agreement among the league managers. For a league that has no revenue, this move could best be described as “Huh?” Of the 5 hold outs, 2 teams are reportedly out for good. The Cute Little Puppies, managed last year by Stacy “I barely have any kidney left, please let me enjoy it without having to keep up with football” Cook has formally seceded from the league, and will likely disband entirely as an organization so that S. Cook can pursue a career in not teaching. Similarly, The Lions, led last year by Matt “I’ve had the West Nile Virus, and you think you’ve had it rough?” Johnson, are reportedly leaving Fantasy Football altogether so Johnson can focus on “blood collecting.” (Appropriate authorities have been notified.) As for the remaining holdouts, reports indicate they will all participate in the upcoming draft and league, but as of yet, these reports can not be verified.
New Blood?
With the loss of two teams, speculation has surfaced that two new teams will be added to keep the league at 10. WatchBlog has been told that the two new teams are as of yet, unnamed, but will be managed by a brother and sister joining the CFFFL for the 2012 season. WatchBlog will be sure to update this story as details come in.
New guys finish last?
WatchBlog has also been informed that the draft lottery for the 2012 CFFFL draft was conducted recently in a secret ceremony among a select group of managers, (the Commissioner strangely not among them,) and as such WatchBlog has the official draft order for next Saturday’s draft. Fittingly, the CFFFL’s 2011 last place finisher, the Plowboys, was rewarded with the number 1 pick. However, in a less than welcoming gesture, the two newest teams were greeted with picks 9 and 10. The complete draft order is as follows:
1. Plowboys
2. Hottez wit da Bodiez
3. Leftovers
4. Cousin Mose and Me
5. Easily Offensive
6. Quail Hunters
7. 47ers
8. Honey Badger
9. New Team TBA (managed by sister)
10. New Team #2 TBA (managed by brother)
If this draft ever takes place, and this league ever gets back on its feet, this is reportedly how it will happen. When it goes utterly and completely wrong, as it assuredly will, WatchBlog will be there to report it.

ReplyDeleteUpdate: It appears that 1 team has ended their personal holdout, as Norman "I thought the draft was a month ago" Cook's Plowboys are officially back, and eagerly awaiting their opportunity to utilize their number one overall pick in the upcoming draft.
ReplyDeleteAs for the two mystery teams, the mystery has been solved. Durlon "I'll be drafting from an 18-wheeler" Bryant has joined the league with his new team, The Gamers. And, just as WatchBlog reported, his sister, Shoshana "Stacy will pay for this" Cook's Sugar Gliders are the other new team to join the league.
No sight of either the Honey Badgers or Hottez wit da bodiez, but they are rarely seen during the regular season anyway.
